A quick message to all that have thought about an accounting program to help out with the books, just get HAMMERLANE! I just wanted to drop you a letter letting you know how much I appreciate your program Hammerlane. I purchased it mid 2005 when I decided after a year of being an owner operator that it was time for some help in the RECORD KEEPING portion of having my own Authority. A year later I upgraded to the leased fleet version. Being a business owner all of my life I'm no stranger to books, but when it came to federal laws that apply to trucking I was out of my element. A fellow owner operator turned me to your website, Hammerlane.com. And after spending some time there, It seemed a simple choice compared to the other programs out there. And I have to say, when I first started using it I was a little hesitant about it. Butt if you remember all the phone calls to you and your office I Quickly became proficient in its use and even after my hard drive crashed last year I knew at least my records with Hammerlane would be OK on my memory stick (backup-backup-backup). But I have to tell you what happened last Thursday...02/13/08

I had my DOT audit! Something I had been stressed about since I received my notice that it was indeed my turn for one. I got off the road ( I do a designated run from Seattle to NJ. ) a day early and sat in my office trying to go over what I needed to comply with it, and even after lying in bed trying to go to sleep my concerns would not let me not be nervous.... The next morning when the door bell rang I had sweat running off my forehead.. Rocky Thompson of the Montana DOT Quickly seen my anxiety and got right to it.. "Just a routine accounting of my records he said". As I Settled down to reply to all the questions I quickly realised ALL but a few things he was asking me about were right there in Hammerlane the 4hrs passed by very fast. He pulled a random trip envelope out of a tall stack and opened it out onto the desk...we went over it all and I showed him how it was all entered in Hammerlane.....was he ever impressed. He kept saying you mean all this is in there? He had never seen Hammerlane before, Yep...From maintenance to mileage records, even Vin numbers to vendors blew him away. And when Rocky stood up to go out to his truck to print out his report on me I didn't think I did that bad. All thanks to you. After he went over the 2 things I needed to do and he gave me my score a 4.5 ....3.5 on not having my current drug test in my file and 1 point for going over the 14 hr rule........ I was almost ecstatic... Wow. He was so into it he is going to tell all his people about it and recommend it. I had a big old country boy smile on my face when as he walked out of my office saying " I do aproxxamatly 200 of these a year and this one is between 1 and 5 of the easiest Ive ever Done" I said " its because of Hammerlane and trip envelops"

Once again THANKS so much.. for all the help over the years and the patience it must have taken to wright such a comprehensive program. I'm looking forward to the next set of updates you have planed.

Thanks for the user friendly program and delaying your anniversary dinner to help me with my laptop problem. It was very easy to setup and I was up and running in less then 10 minutes. I didn't have to attend my local college for a accounting 1 A class to interrupt accounting reports. Profit and loss report is very helpful when being paid tariff miles, at a quick glance you can see the shrinkage from truck miles to paid miles. With the flexibility to change expense names I was able to keep my accountant happy. The carrier that I'm leased to requires monthly maintenance reports, having maintenance records at the click of a button makes filling out the form much quicker than digging in the old shoebox. Prophesy mileage database provides accurate routing and state miles. The program pays for it's self by not over paying state fuel taxes, No more odometer reading written on little pieces of paper floating around. Keep up the good work.

I became an owner operator with my own authority 14 months ago ans spent a long time looking into which computer program would be the best one suited for my needs. I needed to find one that covered everything from entering expenses to a built in mileage program. I also needed one that would expand to a fleet of trucks if needed. I spent time at MATS (Mid-America Truck Show) and upon speaking to Fred Gasperson of HammerLane Trucking Software I asked to see some demos of his program. Within minutes I was loving what I saw! I purchased the program online a few moths later when I was ready to begin my business as well as the additional IFTA upgrade and mileage upgrade for a few dollars more. Being a brand new O/O I was overwhelmed with the responsibility and lack of time to accomplish the things that needed to be done on a day-to-day basis and trying to figure out how to use my new computer program, HammerLane, without making mistakes was difficult since I am, for lack of a better term, computer dumb. During the first year (2006) I managed to enter information into my program in places that it just didn?t need to be causing a mess with the bookkeeping end of things. I had put a few phone calls into Fred for help on some little things that were quickly resolved but still I was experiencing some issues that I was not able to figure out. As December was flying by and 2007 was creeping up, I asked Fred for his help. I sent him a copy of my latest backup of the program via email and over the course of New Years weekend he left no stone unturned trying to find the errors I had made. Finally today, New Years Day 2007, after an entire holiday weekend spent trying to fix my problems and still make sure all of the newest updates for HammerLane wee available online for everyone else, we have everything right on track and all of the problems are now correct. The words ?personal attention? is a flat out understatement. For someone as busy as Fred to take time away from his family on any day, let alone a holiday like he did is to be commended. I know there are a lot of people out there just like me that would like a program that absolutely does it all. HammerLane Trucking Software is it hands down!!!!!

Fred I have been going to write you a note for along time and haven't done it yet. Finally today I am. I wanted to tell you thanks for all the help and support with questions and problems that I have had. Your ability to see the little mistakes I have made and correct them has been a Godsend on more than one occasion. Also the assistance from you with Prophesy enabled me to update the Prophesy to run with Windows ME, and at reasonable price.

I would also like to give you a testimonial for Hammerlane O/O software. I am leased to a large Van line company hauling autos for them. Daily I fill out miles and fuel by state with my logs and have always assumed that this is what the Van lines were charging me back monthly for fuel tax and weight and distance tax. Well to my amazement what I sent the Van lines does not even come close to what they have been charging me back, even if you include 10% for mileage discrepancies.

When I started using Hammerlane I had Prophesy mile maker with it. Then I upgraded my laptop and the new laptop had Windows ME installed on it. The old Prophesy was not compatible with ME so for a month or so I hand entered my mileage. Until now I have upgraded Prophesy.

Now back to my point.. I have used Hammerlane both with and without a mile maker. But since I started using Hammerlane software I have been able to audit my statements and have saved more than the cost of Hammerlane and the Prophesy software in catching overcharges by the Vanlines on fuel tax alone.

This software is fantastic!!!! I would, and do when I can, recommend it to any O/O that wants to save money. Also it is great for tracking expenses and keeping them with the right trip. So I know where I make the most money. Thanks Again Fred.....and sorry for being so long winded.. Just like a truck driver eh???

I just wanted to let you know how useful HammerLane has been for me. When I first read about your software package I was skeptical due to the fact that it seemed expensive and that no large software corporation had created it. However, I no longer have any reservations. HammerLane has greatly simplified my books and financial record keeping. I used to simply throw all my receipts into an envelope, mail them to my accountant and let him charge me $50 and hour to sort through them. With HammerLane, my accountant declares that it will pay itself back in the first year for his charges alone!

That is great savings but the greater benefit is that I can easily track all my expenses and instantly have a history of the prior trip, month, quarter, or year. This has allowed me to better manage my expenses and I truly believe I will save hundreds more dollars each fiscal quarter by better financial management.

Additionally, unlike some software programs that require a degree in accounting and computer engineering to understand, I was able to become comfortable with HammerLane after entering just a couple trips. With your easy-to-reach toll-free support, every question has been answered and the transition from paper to hard drive has been very smooth.

We have really enjoyed our HammerLane Software. It does a really great job. It tracks all our expenses and gives us a print out of them. The program answers all our questions, when we need them answered. We can always know what our trip is going to pay before we run the trip. I purchased hammerlane about a year and half ago,and I noticed a few changes out on the road, sutch as speed limits raised(in some states) and other states changed the truck routes (making them off limits to trucks) IE:NJ. does hammerlane offer updates to the exsisting program I purchased?
